Nébuleuse du Sorcier

A cluster of very young stars, about 11.9 million years old, in Cepheus.

The cloud of gas that formed them still wraps around them. Its distance is not settled: the sources publish anything from 2,145 to 3,024 parsecs, the astronomers' unit of distance. I do not choose between the two values. The gas is in emission, it shines by itself, so the dual-band filter brings it out quickly. The outer extensions are far more tenuous, and they only read after several accumulated hours.
