Le Cœur et la Tête de Poisson

What is seen here is the Heart Nebula, IC 1805. Hooked onto its tip, the Fishhead, IC 1795, is about 6,000 light-years away. IC 1795 measures 40 arcminutes by 20, for 70 light-years across, and shines at magnitude 7. Everything here is in emission: the dual-band filter gives the drawing in one night. The extra exposure benefits mostly the outlying extensions, which are very tenuous.
