Nebula · Cygnus
One and the same cloud of gas in Cygnus, about 2,590 light-years away.
A band of dark dust cuts it in two. On one side the shape of the North American continent appears, on the other that of a pelican. The whole thing measures 120 arcminutes by 100. That is more than the field of most instruments. The gas is in emission, it shines by itself, so the dual-band filter works from the very first hour. What time adds afterwards are the swirls of dark dust that draw the outline.

Temps d'intégration : the total exposure time, the sum of every exposure stacked on an object.
Filtre duo-bande : it lets through only the two colours of emission nebulae.
